One day I was on a birthday party with my wife and toddler, in an indoor playground, great fun but very exhausting. The same evening I had planned to meet with some friends. But my wife wanted me to stay with her and rest.

So I called them to cancel and explained, I'm "hanging in the ropes" (a German expression when you're very tired, "in den Seilen hängen", I assume it comes from boxing). Little did they know that my wife was holding the telephone to my ear!

You know it was quite a gag that you were speechless at the surprise party.

I was bound to get some good vibes from you.

True fact: the 1930s comedy short Here Comes Flossie has a reference to vibrators when the passenger in a dilapidated car asks the driver "Well hot stuff, what do I owe you for the vibrator treatment?"
