Website Issues
Hey everyone,

I know the site has been having issues running since we migrated to the new host. I have been busy with work and have just not had the time to address them. Please be patie t and let me get a free weekend so I can deal with them. I may need to reinstall the board, which is why I have been putting it off because that would take quite a bit of time.

Thanks for the patience.

We have received a suggestion that future contests should allow 'adult' content.

Yes to adult content, but please no Christmas Contest. Things are much too busy at that time of year.

I said this in the previous post on this topic, and thus I am not voting in the poll because my essential vote would be both yes and no, but here is what I said on the topic before the other post was locked. I like the idea, but I think it would be too much to handle for both the mods and judges of the stories. It would be different if we worked and got paid for our service by the site, but we don't, we volunteer, and have many other aspects of our life to handle during the holidays. It might be worth it to try this idea out during a different contest/time of the year if we have not tried this out already.

It doesn't seem right to me because it would be an entry barrier for minor users to them, and on this website there are users of all ages.
I am a man with the role of Rope top/Rigger, I have been attacked by the Tugs since I was a child. Both without sexual components, and with them within my limits.

You could have one for adult content, and one without....just like we have already, with sections for everyone and Adult Only.

I'd love a Christmas bondage story.

I agree with RopemanSteve, two categories, one for Adult Bondage Stories, another for Family Friendly Ones :)

I'm writing one as a followup to the summer volleyball camp story. The only question is whether or not it will contain non-sexual adult elements.

I would make two categories and thus, two contest winners. One for stories without adult content (17 or under) and one for stories with adult content (18 and up). There could even be a vote between the two winners (or four finalists) for best overall story.
Either wishing to be tied up or currently tied up.

I've never seen a contest go down on this site, so if someone could clarify for me that would be great. Do us users vote on the winner, or is it a panel of judges? If it's the latter, then a simple adult tag could help people who want to avoid that content keep out, and minors could still write stories, since a good story is based on how well it is written, not necessarily the content. If it's the former, then I can see how that would affect voting, since some people don't want to read that content, and thus wouldn't vote on it.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.
I love the sight of a barefoot girl in bondage, though getting tied by one doesn't seem half bad either. Tickling, hog ties, stocks, anything seems fun!

I voted against. But allow me to explain.

I think it could be done differently. Rather then doing them all together or excluding one. Why not extend the contest a little. Announce the contest then one-two weeks later the G-PG stories are due. Then weeks two-three PG13 and Up are due. Week three is the final judging of the G-PG category and Week four is the final judging of the PG13 and Up.

Extras would be limit one story per category per user account. If they have to ask if something is G-PG enough then obviously it isn't for those are common sense. Maybe cap them at a certain amount of words to reduce length but to also allow sequels and more chapters.

These are just a few of my own suggestions if any admin wants to contact an even discuss this with me I will gladly have any conversation needed.

Thanks for the suggestion.
My first impression is that it makes a lot of work for the Judging Panel.
Let's see what the others think.

Ah, but does it? Or does it produce the same amount of work and set defined boundaries? Aswell as stretch times out so you don't have to rush as much?

I could be wrong though.

Well, if it's a matter of too much work for the mods, then maybe it just be the non-sexual stories.

I get that they're volunteers, have real lives, and just might not have enough hours in the day to do everything they might want to do here. So we gotta consider that.

Just be grateful they put in all the effort that they do, and we even have this place to start with. Nothing else like it on the internet.

Personally I don't care, I can write for either audience. However there should be a clear mark on stories containing adult content (as the current folder structure does too).

Story Contest Awards

Post by Stoutland395 » 2 weeks ago

I've personally never written a more adult story, but I'm not opposed to the idea. A contest may provide some incentive (at least for me) to venture into uncharted waters, like how the short story contests before gave me a challenge of writing an actual short story.
I think the option would be best if maybe there were a "for all" contest and an "adult" contest that were separated.
Or maybe even allowing everything and having a 1st place overall, 1st place SFW, and 1st place NSFW.

Tangent: I know it was prob. around the time the issue of the site going down occurred, but did the last contest ever get decided?

I think inclusivity is important here. We could be disenfranchising some of our members by organising an "adult content" contest.

Story Contest Awards

Post by RopeBunny » 6 days ago

It appears I'm on the losing end of this vote by quite some margin, having voted no, but I'd still like to add my opinion.

I've written plenty of stories here, all fictional admittedly, in both the normal and adult sections. I've entered two of the three contests (I did have an idea for the other, but ran out of time to write it) and on each occasion haven't felt the need to write anything adult based. I guess I'm trying to say I don't feel we need to step it up to that level, that there are plenty of TUGs based options without having to make it sexual.

By all means keep writing up the more adult stuff, I know I shall when the mood (and the right idea) takes me, but for me at least the contests are fine the way they are.

Louise.

I voted to allow "adult". The problem is the term is quite unclear but most people simply break it down to the meaning adult=everything naked and sexual and I'm under the impression that is the meaning the poll is based on. And if it's understood this way I won't see a single reason why to exclude adult content. If you state adult means pornographic then I'll agree to not allow it.

By law, in most countries minors should be protected from pornography. However erotica are often allowed and should therefore be made accessible because these things are very useful to develop a healthy sexuality when they start puberty. This means when someone is naked, when the characters have consensual sex, it is perfectly fine to me.

More and more I am offended when people want to forbid anything beautifully sexual nowadays. Again I'm okay with restrictions to porn, but not erotica in general. I don't get it why as soon as there is a female nipple on TV we have Armageddon. By the way, has nobody ever wondered why male nipples are okay and how discriminating that is to women? And it's also insulting to males because such regulations insinuate males turn into mindless monsters when they see female nipples. But I digress. I think I made my point: art should not be limited in this way, never.

I don't think we should start trying to differenciate erotica vs pornography.
That is one Pandora's box we may not be able to close once opened.

The differences between the two are theoretical at best.
Actually differenciating them from one another is an entirely different matter.

Everything is relative.
To someone with a religious background or a more traditional, less liberal upbringing, erotica IS pornography.
While to a porn addict, erotica may simply be viewed as porn with an slightly more wordy and artistic twist to it.

The difference between the two is subtle to the point where the same piece of fiction would be classified as porn by 50% of it's readers and erotica by ther other 50%.

Since I'm probably the one who writes the most sexually explicit scenes on here, I am well versed to voice my outlook on this matter.

To give you an example, the sex scenes I write produce two completely different reactions among my readership.
Half of the readership claims to be turned on beyond belief and find the scene in question extremely hot and arousing. The other half are over the moon at how smoothly the coupling went and how much love and relationship-depth are reflected during the intercourse.

The same piece is viewed as porn by one user, while the other sees the piece as an artistic, blissfully-emotional emancipation of love and human nature.

The matter is hugely subjective, for the author and for the reader as well.

I agree mostly.

The fact that the difference between erotica and porn is somewhat subjective (although there exist quite clear definitions in law) makes it necessary that everyone can decide on their own. Nobody is forced to read a story, they can always abort if it's too much, unless the contest judgement panel is not diverse. But to exclude certain content beforehand is patronizing.
