I can't point to one single thing that got me interested. It was something I noticed happened in a lot of stories I liked. The heroes often got captured by the villains and sometimes that meant getting tied up. There were some capture games I played with kids in the neighborhood. Although someone getting tied up wasn't common, there were a few instances of it, and the general feeling was still there.

Are you the kind of person who tries to escape when being tied up, or who doesn't want to escape?

I would only try to escape if I knew success would lead to my captor becoming my prisoner AND failure would lead to stricture binding. Otherwise, I would remain content.

ANSWER: I haven't tried much legit equipment like straitjackets but I have used things like cuffs, leather straps, ballgags, ringgags, blindfolds. I enjoy trying out new toys.
