I don't do self bondage any more. But back when I did, I would tie a string to the handcuff key, drill a hole in the lid of a gallon milk jug, and tie the string to that hole in the lid, then fill the jug with water. Then I'd make sure the key was in the middle of the jug, and freeze the jug solid. Then I'd cuff my hands and feet, and get the jug out of the freezer, It normally takes about two days (depending on how hot the house is) for the ice to thaw and allow me to get to the key. Granted, you COULD cheat, and run hot water over the jug, or put it in the microwave, or smash the ice, but if you wait for the ice to thaw, you'll be locked up quite a while.
