Here's a suggestion. You can search members by their names and stuff like that, but could there be an option to search members by their interests? I mean, everyone has their interests listed on their profiles, so maybe there is an option to search by keywords in this field?

I'm not sure if would help. Let say for you found how had one thing on his list like but the other his list, would on your dislike list. You can all so unique all you like never in combinations.

If you don't like the other things on the list, don't talk about them, talk just about the common interest. It is a common thing when people find something in common because they have the same interest, despite also having conflicting interests. They just talk about what both like.
