WHY, WHEN AND HOW TO DO IT!
Why reviewing stories is an important part of this forum community simply comes down to math and logic.
First and foremost, commenting and reviewing is the ONLY way to ensure that more material of your liking gets posted.
Dropping a quick note on a story you particularly enjoyed reading will encourage the author to continue his or her work.
In short, commenting on and reviewing stories ensures future reading material.
Stories that garner little to no comments wind up being left unfinished and incomplete more often than not.
So if you wanna contribute to keeping this board lively and making sure your favourite authors and favourite stories keep going, then commenting is the way to go.
ANY time you feel like it!
Have something to say? Then go ahead and drop a note!
The prevalent idea that you need to be fully caught up and up to date with a story's chapter count before commenting really discourages those who are authoring long, multi-chaptered stories.
Say a story currently has sixteen chapters, and you are at chapter four; it is ENTIRELY OK to review chapter four even whilst other readers have progressed further in their reading. Those who stubbornly declare wanting to be fully up to date with a story before commenting are NOT helping anyone. Readers who review long stories (20+ chapters) and wait to be fully caught up before doing so, almost always end up reviewing the last couple scenes while forgetting the earlier portions of the story.
Reviewing and commenting should be done spontaneously, whenever the storyline or author gives you something to comment about.
When a fellow reader voices out his or her own opinion about something, don't shy away from chiming in. Join in on the discussion!
Ahw, the age-old "I don't know what to say" excuse...
Commenting on something you're enjoying is as simple as A-B-C.
Reviews can range from short one-liners to long paragraphs.
"Just finished reading chapter four. Great stuff, man!" and "Really enjoyable! Loving this!" are both generic examples of short, yet highly encouraging comments.
For those of you are who shy or simply new to the concept of reviewing and don't know what to say, consider commenting on your favourite stories by answering one or several of the following questions:
* Who is your favourite character so far, and why?
* Who is your least favourite character, and why?
* Which character do you identify with the most?
* If you could enter the story and permanently take on the role of any of these characters, who would you be?
* D'you have a favourite scene so far? If so, which one?
* Which kinks presented in this story turn you on or excite you the most?
* How did you find the story? (Google search, forum browsing, suggestion from another user, etc)
As you can see, commenting and reviewing is neither difficult nor time-consuming.
Most story chapters you'll come across on here will take you about five or six minutes to read.
If you've had time to read said chapter, or if you've recently had time to read multiple chapters, then you most certainly have the time to drop a quick note and let the author know his/her work is being enjoyed.
Have fun, and don't forget to drop little notes whenever you find yourself particularly enjoying something!
