This was an excellent first chapter, one that has us on the edge of our seats waiting to find out what happens next.
The details about the bathroom lights being bright and hard to adjust to, given the darkness in the rest of the house, doesn't go by unnoticed and definitely adds some realism to the story.
Well done!

A big US home where you can get kidnapped without waking everyone, puts me back into my teenage daydreams ( family of five in 90 m²/970 square feet, Old World standards... )
The nightly atmosphere is well described, with that late, eerie intrusion...

And forgot another good point: sockgag with fresh out the drawer, clean, spotless socks...

Just for shits and grins, I've always wondered why kidnappers, crooks, etc., go for socks, instead of that sweaty red bandana on top of the dresser, that was used as a headband earlier in the day.
