By now Kate always went down to her cellar room without even turning the light on. She liked the focus on her other senses for once, and the calmness of padding through the darkness. Her cellar was not a usual one - it was a properly yet minimalistically furnished room with a shelf and bed, providing a retreat in times of turmoil.

So as usual, after a long day she entered into total blackness, ready to wind down. Was there a sound? She did not lock the room as there was nothing particularly precious in there and the cellar door was always locked anyways. Probably just her brain trying to make sense of the sudden silence after the buzzing work.

Kate reached out for the remote to turn on the soft evening light, and just in that moment something took hold of her arm. Kate squeaked in surprise as her arms were pulled behind her body, locked together in steel before a cold hand covered her mouth. It all happened so fast and unexpected that she neither had time to defend herself nor call for help. She was stuck in darkness, captive of an unknown person who had somehow been able to enter the cellar. So either the person also lived in the house, or had somehow slipped in - both options seemed odd.

Kate has a secret playroom and her captor knows about it. He is probably living in the same house, has observed and fantasized about her and is now seizing the opportunity. Maybe they even know each other.
