Bound or tied up?

Post by BandG »

Which phrase do you prefer? For some reason I much prefer 'tied up' - I also liked trussed.

I lean a bit more towards 'tied up'. 'Bound' is better when you add something else to it, like 'bound and gagged'.

Yep I'm the exact same as you. Possibly because 'bound' can have different meaning whereas the phrase 'tied up' is a little more on the nose.

I’d say i prefer bound but i agree with the above that tied up seems a little more harmless and fun compared to bound.

Well.....how about roped up....or taped up? Or, just plain ol' "restrained"? Those will work. ;) Best Regards, All....

Yes, I agree very much there. I much prefer the phrase 'tied up' I only like bound if you use the word (just as you said) GAGGED... for 'bound and gagged .

I prefer bound.

Can't say without some extensive reading which I use more in my stories?

Any thoughts from other writers here? Do you more often use the phrase you prefer, or like me do you like one (bound for me) but use both to write?

I, like some of the above posters, like trussed too.

I find it hard to decide which one I prefer! Just like captured_prize, I like "bound" when associated with other things like "gagged". "Bound and gagged" just sounds better than "tied-up and gagged". But then, just "tied-up" sounds better than just "bound".

Plus, if I am actually tied-up when one of my buddies call, and my wife actually picks up the phone and says "he can't come to the phone right now, he is quite tied-up at the moment, can I take the message" it will be taken to mean that I am very busy, hiding my predicament in "plain sight" without it being a lie! (Never actually happened, but it could!)

drawscore sums it up best: "depends on the context."

Personally I have always preferred the term tied up I think it's probably the most basic out of the two whereas trussed and bound seem far more exotic and descriptive of the term. Then again they all mean the same thing anyways just said in a different capacity to the other. Don't you just love the English language so simple and yet complex at the same time.

I prefer to be tied up, tied up and gagged, tied up gagged and blindfolded. I also like to be trusted up like an oven ready turkey.

I dont.know why. Maybe its because the first time It happened I said thing.like "do you want to tie me up?" Or I was asked "I think you want.to.tie me.to.the bed". And similar phrases.

I like them both. Say your with your playmate and you're taunting them, you can say "I have you all tied up" then later say "I will keep you bound and gagged" just a way to mix it up

There's something about another man barking a command, "Tie him up!" that gets to me!

Following very close behind is "Gag him, too!"

I quite like to use the term tied up sometimes I use the word bound in a sentence with someone and I have to admit it does make me think of bondage

Great question! I would have to go with bound. But I do like mixing it up, trussed up is also a phrase that gets me
