Thanks for all the feedback, everyone.

Just to be clear, this is only the first part of the last chapter!

The final chapter will consist of multiple smaller updates like this with a different POV each time. Believe me, you guys will know when it's over!

I created an account partially because of this story. It’s so detailed and descriptive, but nothing gets lost, and the voice is super clear. A++

Well, isn't this a rare level of satisfaction! I've just taken a look at what you've posted so far, and it's great! You're a talented writer, and you've made a terrific debut here. To have played a role in that feels like an honour.

Welcome to the board, Delta! I look forward to seeing your future works.

Nadine tapped her foot against the floor mat and checked her phone once again. No messages from either Heather or Miranda. She checked Snap Map and saw that everyone was still in position. The others were all stationed precisely where they’d planned to be, and probably waiting impatiently just like Nadine.

They’d formed their latest plan based on how well the last one had worked out. Only one of them had actually made it to the bad guy’s hideout, and she’d barely even reached him, so a different approach was needed. This time, Heather hadn’t even left the house. She was still waiting there, just like Nadine was waiting behind the wheel of her car as it sped up and down the highway. Miranda was also driving in circles, but she was on the opposite side of the woods.

Together, they formed a triangle with the cabin at its center, but Nadine and Miranda were in plain sight of countless witnesses on the highway. Heather was the only one truly vulnerable to an attack from Gassy, and he would surely come for one of her just like he always did. When that happened, Heather would send a text to the others, signalling them to move on the cabin. Nadine and Miranda would run from opposite sides of the woods, but they were still equal distances from their target. Gassy had an odd habit of appearing from out of nowhere, but even he couldn’t be in two places at once. Not only would Gassy have to choose which one to target, but Heather would also give them a huge head start. With any luck, both Nadine and Miranda could make it to Valdis before Gassy reached them.

It was brave of Heather to volunteer as the bait, but it also made a lot of sense. Miranda and Nadine were both more athletic than her, and would definitely stand a better chance against Valdis. Hell, Nadine was the scrappiest out of all of them, and even she was kind of nervous about what was to come. Heather had said that this loop was occurring because of a mistake that Valdis was repeatedly making, but what if they failed to stop him and their intervention caused him to try it differently this time? What if they accidentally caused him to succeed?

Nadine banished the thought. She couldn’t let doubt hold her back. It was all or nothing, and if they did nothing, then they’d be trapped forever in the loop. She couldn’t allow that to persist!

Her phone buzzed.

A text from Heather flashed across the screen: HE’S HERE! GO!

A fairly straightforward signal if Nadine had ever seen it. She floored the gas pedal and shot towards the campsite. Once there, she almost exited the car too quickly to take the keys out of the ignition. She was tearing through the woods in a flash. It was just like the last time, only this time she hit the ground running.

Nadine didn’t check her phone as often as she should have. It was fairly easy to get oneself turned around in the middle of the forest, and when Nadine finally did look, she saw that she’d wandered a little too far to the right. Still, she was closer to the shack than she used to be, really close, actually. She just needed to readjust a little to the left.

Something grabbed at her jacket and held her back. Nadine assumed that it was another branch. She’d been protecting her face, but the vegetation had still clawed at her clothes and hijab the whole time. Oddly though, this snag didn’t come loose or snap off when Nadine pushed forward. It held firm.

Nadine turned to inspect her shirt and found herself face to face with a gas mask.

“Oh, hell,” Nadine snarled in frustration.

Not only had Gassy found her early, but he’d gotten the jump on her as well. How the hell did this guy get around so fast anyway?

Gassy’s other hand was reaching into his backpack. Nadine knew that she had to get away right now, so she bent her arms back and slid them out of their sleeves. She ran, leaving her jacket behind in Gassy’s iron grip. At this point, Nadine didn’t expect to stay in the game much longer, but she still had to do everything she could for Miranda’s sake.

Sadly, Gassy could move much faster than her. Nadine only gained another seven feet of distance before he caught up to her and tackled her to the ground. She was now wearing just a half-sleeved ocher shirt, and the pine needles on the forest floor pricked at her exposed arms. That was the least of her worries though. Gassy was on top of her, and he had rope in his hands.

Nadine tried her best to make things difficult and prolong the binding process, but Gassy was every bit as unstoppable as he had always been. Nadine expected him to pull her hands behind her back, but instead, he started by binding her wrists together in front of her. He then pulled her to her feet and led her to the nearest tree. Nadine’s resistance was worthless, amounting to nothing but a couple of small trenches her heels had dug into the forest floor. She couldn’t stop her captor from throwing the excess rope over an overhead branch and pulling it tight.

Nadine’s hands shot up to the sky, and her arms stretched above her head. Gassy pulled the rope to the other side of the tree and tied it off to something. Nadine couldn’t see it, but she knew it was out of reach, so she focused on the branch that she was hung from. It was big, but not too big. It probably couldn’t support her weight if she lifted herself off the ground.

Gassy must have read her mind or something because he moved on to her legs next. He looped some rope around Nadine’s left ankle multiple times before moving to the left. He wrapped the rope’s end around the base of a bush and pulled until Nadine’s leg was forcibly stretched in that direction. He stopped at that point and repeated the process with Nadine’s right ankle. When he was done, Nadine’s legs were spread far apart with zero slack in the ropes.

Nadine snarled. Gassy may have immobilized her thoroughly, but it hadn’t taken all that long. There was no chest harness or intricate ties, and Gassy had only used three ropes. Of course, he still bothered with a gag.

Nadine’s gag of the day was a black leather panel with a single strap and a red ball gag riveted to its interior. Nadine tried her best to keep it out of her mouth, but Gassy forced her jaw open and shoved the ball between her teeth.

“Grrmph.” It had been a while since the last time Nadine had worn a panel gag, and she had forgotten just how much muffling power a simple leather panel could add.

She scowled at her captor, but he wasn’t even paying attention to her. He ran off into the trees, clearly content with Nadine’s helplessness. He was right, of course. Nadine was indeed powerless to stop him. She couldn’t use any of her limbs, and her gag was as effective as it was humiliating.

"Hgrmmph. Mhrrrn!" Nadine had always hated how she sounded with a gag in her mouth. The fact that she couldn’t go anything to remove it was usually her least favorite part of being tied up. Still, it was impossible not to grunt those ridiculous sounds into her gag as she fought for all she was worth.

Those ropes that held her ankles were anchored very strongly, so her only hope was to get her arms free. That was easier said than done since there was no reachable knot on her tightly bound wrists, but Nadine had never been one to back down, and she was needed now more than ever. She clenched her fists and pulled against her bonds.

Being forced to spread her legs had only increased the tension in her overhead rope, and Nadine realized that she wouldn’t be able to lift herself off the ground like this. The most weight she could put on the branch would come from her arm muscles, and that probably wouldn’t be enough. Still, she fought with all the desperate strength of a tiger backed into a corner.

“Mnghrrf. GHRRRRRMPH!”

Nadine pulled at her ropes until her fists changed color. She thrashed and jerked until sweat dripped from her face. She struggled until her muscles all blazed with overexertion.

But the branch never broke.

Bound, gagged, and alone in the woods, Nadine groaned into her gag and hung her head. ‘I did all I could, Miranda, it’s all up to you now.’

Delightful. Will she break free and help her friends? Will one of her friends find her and set her free? Will someone else find her? Or, of course, she could just dangle there until she falls asleep. So many options. Almost all of them would be fun.

Another fantastic update. Nadine is my favorite of the three, and so I always appreciate attention paid to her.
Something that I've pondered: In a way, Gassy is a victim just as the three are, and the tie ups are a kindness, as they're better than a murder. When all this is over and the loops stop, will he be punished? will they reconcile, now that they understand his role in it all? Or will he just be kicked in the balls?
No need for answers, I know no matter where it goes, it'll be great!

“Mrrn. Hgrrrmn!”

Heather’s grunts of exertion were the only thing her struggles produced. It wasn’t much of a surprise considering how effectively Gassy had tied her this time. Such was the price of putting up a good fight with that guy.

Still, Heather had known all along that she would inevitably wind up like this. That was why she’d hated offering herself up as bait, but she knew in her heart that that was the best place for her. Even at the best of times, Miranda and Nadine were fiercer fighters. The best Heather could hope to accomplish would be buying them the time they needed to save the day. Still, that logic hadn’t changed the fact that Gassy was scary as hell, but at least she’d been able to stay relatively calm by cuddling with Goiter as the clock ticked down.

“Gmmmmph!”

Heather snapped back into the present and pulled at her bonds again. There was no slack at all in the ropes, and the knots were all well-hidden. Still, she pressed on. Her limbs were sore and were back felt even worse, but she kept mentally reassuring herself that this was the last time. Never again would she fall asleep in ropes. This time, Miranda and Nadine would make their triumphant return and rescue her from her… hogtie?

Heather really didn’t know what she was in, but it was effective. Gassy had tied her hands together in front for a change and then he’d tied up her elbows, ankles, and knees. He then used some more rope to connect her wrists to her ankles and her elbows to her knees. He’d wound the rope enough times to effectively weld her forearms to her shins, and that was surprisingly effective at keeping her helplessly immobilized. Even though Heather had her hands in front of her and wasn’t tied to anything, she hadn’t managed to move herself an inch from the spot on the floor where she’d been unceremoniously plopped down.

The tie was frustratingly efficient. Heather’s only goal had been to slow Gassy down, and his efficiency may have offset her efforts somewhat. At least he’d taken his time gagging her. He’d even been considerate enough to hold her hair out of the way as he stuffed a big rag in her mouth and wound a roll of silver tape around her head. Heather had counted eight layers of tape over her lips, which was more than enough to keep her quiet. She could scream until she was blue in the face, and it wouldn’t carry any farther than the next room over.

“Mmn”

Heather let out an exasperated sigh and rested her sweaty head against the cold hard floor. She wasn’t giving up, not tonight, but she needed to rest for a second and rethink her approach. She may have played her role already, but her friends were out there fighting for the future tonight and Heather felt the need to be there with them. She felt like she needed to fight on no matter what.

Actually, she’d been feeling that need ever since she learned Valdis’ secret. For the first time ever, she knew what needed to be done, and she was hellbent on seeing it through. That fighting spirit was new to Heather, but she kind of liked it. The extra vigor had certainly come in handy once Gassy showed up.

He had snuck in and caught her off guard. Heather was still cuddling with her tegu when Gassy came for her, but she was still able to dodge his first attack and send out the signal as planned. She’d actually held him at bay for longer than ever before, mostly by ducking around the room and doing her best to stay out of his reach. When he finally had caught her, Heather had put up more of a fight than ever before. Not that it did much good, but the bound and gagged redhead liked to think that she had bought her friends a little extra time.

If only she was good for more than just that.

“Mmn!”

Heather flinched and screamed into her gag. A claw had dug into the skin of her back, startling her. Another claw caught her shirt, and Heather recognized those familiar talons. It was Goiter. He must have run off when Gassy showed up, and now he was back.

Heather wasn’t sure what to think about this. Every time Gassy had attacked before, Goiter was either absent or locked up in his habitat, and for good reason. Her scaly boy could have been hurt during the fight, and Heather was now powerless to stop him from running amuck in the house. Tegus were some of the smartest lizards on the planet, but not even they could be trained to use a litter box. It sure would suck if Nadine successfully ended the time loop only to find a stinking pile of tegu poo on her rug. On the other hand, at least Heather wouldn’t be alone for the rest of the night.

Goiter climbed up on top of her and spread himself across her bound body. He flicked his tongue, and it came into contact with Heather’s gagged cheek.

“Mnmnnm mmph.” Heather’s baby was probably expecting rubs and kisses, but she was in no position to share either of those. All she could provide was sweet words that were too muffled to even make sense.

After a moment of inaction, Goiter turned away and started to climb down Heather’s bound limbs. He probably figured he could get attention if he rubbed his face in her hands. Heather had always loved how sweet her big cuddle bug was, but she couldn’t exactly reward him for good behavior right now. If anything, his snuggles were going to get in the way of her struggles.

She felt bad for ignoring Goiter, but Heather didn’t have time for him. Gassy was already on his way to Miranda or Nadine. Maybe he’d already caught up to one of them. Heather had no idea since she didn’t have her phone on her anymore. She had no way of tracking how far the others had gotten or even how much time had… ‘Wait, what?’

She heard a light hissing sound, and then Goiter struck. Heather would have stumbled backwards if she were able to, but there was really nothing she could do but scream quietly as her argentine tegu opened his jaw and bit down on her wrists. Goiter hadn’t tried to bite her in years, and she didn’t know what to make of this sudden hostility.

Once the initial burst of panic had passed over, Heather’s first cohesive thought was one of curiosity. Tegus have extremely sharp teeth, but she didn’t feel any pain at all, and it took the bound girl a few seconds to realize why that was. Goiter wasn’t attacking her. He was attacking her ropes!

“Ghhtrm!?”

Heather’s eyes went wide with shock and she stared in awe as her pet lizard sank his teeth into the ropes that bound her. Those big tegu claws scratched along the floor and his thrashing body clumsily flopped left and right. He hissed as though he was in a fight for his life, and between hisses, Heather could hear the sound of tearing rope.

This was incredible! The loop could have repeated a million times and Heather would have never expected this to happen; and yet, here she was, feeling the range of motion in her arms get a little bit bigger with each and every wiggle. Eventually, she was able to move her wrists enough that it repelled her pet, who promptly redirected his chomps to the ropes on her forearms.

Heather wanted to tell Goiter what a good boy he was, but all her gagged mouth could muster was “Ghhd bmn! Ghd bmn!” He seemed to get the message though. He chewed fervently at her ropes, almost as fervently as Heather’s struggles. It felt like a miracle. Was Goiter really that smart? Was he perhaps remembering everything in the loop just like Heather? She had no idea, but it was working! She could feel her arm coming…

“MMPH!”

Yes! It was free! At long last, Heather’s arm was free!

In less than a minute, she was able to free her other arm as well. Goiter persistently pulled at the loose ropes, almost as though his lizard brain thought that he had to get them away from mommy. Before he could get too carried away, Heather sat herself up and patted at her boy’s head. It took a moment, but he seemed to understand that they were both going to be okay. Heather finished the work herself, picking the knots apart and wiggling out of all those loops of rope.

She picked up Goiter and cradled him on her shoulder as she walked him back to his little warm habitat in her room. Once he was inside, Heather got to work removing her gag. She’d been running on instincts until that point, and the gravity of the situation didn’t sink in until she felt the pain of the sticky tape pulling at her hair and skin.

She was free!

Time after time, she’d been bound and gagged no matter what she and her friends tried, never to escape until they went back in time, but that had changed tonight. She had walked to her room with her free legs, carried her tegu to safety with her free arms, and now, for the first time ever, she felt tape being removed from her face rather than being glued on. When the rag exited her mouth, it felt groundbreaking. She’d really done it. She’d really gotten free!

Not on her own, that is. Heather did take the time to plant the biggest kiss ever on top of her reptilian hero’s head before rushing out of the room. She went for her phone and opened up Snap Map. There they were. Heather could see where her friends were. She wasn't too late, and she knew where she needed to go next.

Heather snatched up her keys and called out to her pet. “You’re the best, Goiter! I’m gonna spoil the heck out of you, I promise! But first, there’s some unfinished business…”

We’ve made it. The Loop is reaching its conclusion! I had to make this final update much longer than normal, but I think you’ll enjoy it. I’m not going to dedicate a big speech or anything to this story, but I would like to take the time to thank each one of you.

The Loop may not be my longest-running story, but it has been my most successful story to date, and that’s all because of the red names in this bubble. You all kept the story alive, and you kept it full of energy. The kind of activity and dedication that you guys demonstrated in this story is exemplary, and I hope that every author on this forum gets to enjoy the satisfaction of reading feedback from followers like you.

To write a story as long as this takes a lot of time and effort, and no matter how much somebody likes bondage or TUG stories, they always run the risk of burning out and moving on. Completing this tale from start to finish could have easily turned into a chore, so I thank each and every one of you for making it a pleasure instead.

When Miranda had first heard Heather’s story about Valdis, she hadn’t known what to make of the claim that a full-sized palace was hidden inside that tiny wooden shack. It didn’t make sense when Heather had described it, and it also didn’t make sense when Miranda saw it for herself.

She made it to the cabin on her own, and she entered on her own. Ideally, Nadine would have been there too, but when Miranda checked her phone and saw that Nadine wasn’t moving, she had to assume the worst and go on alone. It wasn’t a position Miranda wanted to be in – after all, Heather couldn’t stop Valdis on her own – but she really had no choice. They all knew the stakes. No matter what, that self-professed wizard needed to be stopped.

Now, if only she could find him.

The mansion in the shack was even more dazzling than Miranda could have expected, and just as sprawling as well. It was a good thing that Heather that told them which floor to scour, otherwise Miranda would have been there all day. She dashed up the stairs and entered a large room that her cousin had talked about earlier. It was almost entirely empty, but it had more doorways than the hallway of a Scooby-Doo mansion. Miranda didn’t know where to start, so she just blasted through each doorway as quickly as she could.

Pretty much every door Miranda threw open led to a dark and unlit room. She didn’t stick around long enough to see what was in each of those rooms and just assumed that the lights would be on if Valdis was in there. After all, from what Heather had told her, the old coot should be wide awake right about now. She left the doors open behind her to mark where she’d already been, and the big empty room soon began to fill up with open doorways.

Nothing… nothing… every door Miranda checked harbored nothing. At least, nothing worth her--

“McGUINESS!”

A loud voice pierced the air and just about jolted Miranda right off her feet. She spun around and laid eyes on a wrinkly old vulture of a man. The numerous lightbulbs in the room began flickering, giving him the aura of some supernatural horror villain. His head bore the white hair of an old man, but he still stood tall and proud in one of the doorways at the opposite end of the large room. He was dressed entirely in black except for a glassy green medallion which he had clasped his bony fingers.

Miranda didn’t bother with a response. She just ran for him. She didn’t really know what she would do next, but she knew that this old man must be the person she’d come to stop, and she couldn’t do that from across the room. Valdis didn’t seem worried at all though. He stood his ground in the flickering light, fiddling with the medallion and maintaining a fierce glare at Miranda.

She got within nine feet of him.

Perhaps if she had jumped for it like an action hero she might have gotten a hand on him, but she wasn’t, and she didn’t. Instead, she was halted by an unyielding grasp from behind, the grasp of a very strong foe. The lights stopped flickering and Miranda was thrown to the floor, and it was on the way down that she caught a glimpse of her assailant and his all-too-familiar gas mask. Even if she hadn’t seen Gassy with her own eyes, the scratchy feeling of rope sliding over her wrists would have been a dead giveaway. Where had that freak even come from?!

“NOOO,” Miranda growled. She desperately tried to break free before it was too late, but she knew from excessive experience that there was no getting away once Gassy got a hold of you. She cursed at the top of her lungs. She’d gotten so close! Valdis was right in front of her, but he might as well have been in Zimbabwe for all the good it did for Miranda. Once Gassy was finished, she wouldn't be able to lay a finger on him.

However, Gassy never finished. Miranda figured that she would be put in a hogtie or a balltie or some other inescapable bind, but her captor only tied up her wrists and got some wraps around her ankles before he yielded to his master’s shouting.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing, McGuiness?! I ordered you to neutralize them! It’s no wonder one of them got this far if this is what you’ve been doing instead!

LOOK AT ME, McGUINESS!

Miranda’s ankles were bound, but not tied off when Gassy halted his efforts and rose to his feet. Miranda wiggled her ankles and realized that she could break free with a bit of effort, but she decided to play helpless for the moment and wait for an opening.

Gassy was the strongest and most unstoppable person Miranda had ever seen, but Valdis stared him down without a shred of fear or even respect, just pure outrage. Without breaking his eye-lock, Valdis pointed a finger down at Miranda where she laid and shouted, “The other two, did you do this to them as well?”

Gassy nodded.

Valdis’ balding head started to redden. “For crying out loud, you dolt, I did not recruit you to be my personal kidnapper! At least tell me that I won’t have to send you out again to finish the job?”

Gassy shook his head, confirming that his job was over. That made Miranda feel disappointed because it meant that the three of them had failed once again, but there was a silver lining to this cloud. If she played her cards right and allowed Valdis to do whatever he intended to do, then they’ll probably live to try agai--

“You won’t have to send him out, because the show’s right here!”

Everyone, including Miranda, shot their gaze to the doorway that she had first entered through. There, standing tall, was an olive-skinned Muslim girl and a slender redhead.

“Nadine,” Miranda exclaimed with joyous surprise! “Heather?”

It was a miracle, and it left Miranda dumbfounded. How were they here? Gassy had just said that they’d been tied up! Could it be that they’d broken free? They’d all been tied up and hopelessly immobilized so many times that the very idea seemed ludicrous, so what had changed this time?

“Hang on, Miranda,” Nadine called out. “We’ll take it from here!”

By that point, Valdis looked so frustrated that the blood pressure alone must have been putting his life at risk. “You buffoons! Do you not understand what I’m trying to do?! I could undo all the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century if you’d just stay out of my way!”

Heather stepped forward. “You’re messing with powers that you don’t understand. We can’t let you go on!”

“This is the only way to get my sister back,” Valdis cried. “You will not deny me that!” He turned to his black-clad companion and snapped, “McGuiness, finish your mission and neutralize them for good this time!”

The lanky, silent monster didn’t spring into action like Miranda expected. Instead, he sort of shuddered as he slowly turned towards his personal Doctor Frankenstein. He looked as though each movement was a labor for him. He was clearly fighting something, and in that moment, Miranda could see why her cousin thought that their masked menace was actually an unwilling slave. Even without a voice, Gassy was conveying anything but compliance.

Valdis noticed it too. “Don’t you dare refuse me! It’s thanks to me that you walk amongst the living!”

His wrinkly hand shot up to his chest and wrapped its fingers around the green medallion once more. He gripped it tight and brandished it at Gassy like an exorcist with a crucifix; and with that piece of green glass raised high, Valdis repeated his command through gritted teeth.

“You can’t resist me, boy! I said: KILL THEM!”

It felt as though a cloud had drifted over Miranda, a cloud that cast a shadow of terror. When Heather had speculated that the three of them had targets on their heads, it had been easy to shrug that off. It felt more like a description of what could have been rather than what was, but hearing those cold-blooded words come straight from the horse’s mouth slammed everything into perspective. The time loop wasn’t just some puzzle for them to solve, it was a deadly scheme from the mind of a murderous sociopath and his pet monster.

And Miranda was tied up right at their feet.

She began kicking wildly at her ankles. There was no more time to wait for an opportune moment. She had to get away from them and fast! The unfinished ropes on her legs gave way bit by bit, but it wouldn’t be enough to get away in time. Even once her legs were freed, she’d be at Gassy’s mercy, and that mercy had just run out.

At least, that’s what Miranda thought. Instead of going for the most vulnerable target, Gassy stepped right over her and moved on Heather and Nadine. He moved at the sluggish pace of a slasher villain, but it still felt like a bullet had whizzed past Miranda's head. Why he didn’t go for her, she couldn’t say. Perhaps that undead automaton had just enough defiance left in him to do the job inefficiently. That was good news for her, but bad news for the others.

“Be careful,” Miranda cried out! “Don’t let him grab you!”

Genuine fear marked the faces of both Heather and Nadine as they scattered away from Gassy. By that point, Valdis’ patience ran thin. “Quit stalling, McGuiness! Kill them, and kill them quickly!”

Miranda rolled herself over and looked up at the old man. He was once again holding that medallion as he barked orders across the room. That was the third time she’d seen him do that, and to Miranda’s desperate mind, that was evidence enough for her to use something that years of education had trained her not to do.

She used movie logic.

“Get the medallion,” Miranda called to the others. “Get it off his neck!”

It was a shot in the dark, but it seemed to strike a nerve on Valdis, who scowled at Miranda’s call and landed a quick but sharp kick against her ribs. “Be quiet,” he shouted!

“Get away from her,” Heather screamed as she dodged a strike from Gassy and scrambled for Valdis. The little redheaded freshman ran like a tailback towards the old man with a look of determination that was almost scary to see. Unfortunately, something even scarier was coming up right behind her.

Gassy was coming, and there was no rope in his hands this time. For the first time, he lunged at his prey without any gags or bindings, just two immensely strong hands that could crush Heather like a cracker if he managed to get a hold of her.

“LOOK OUT,” Miranda screamed!

“NO!”

Heather was struck from the side and sent stumbling to the floor, but not by the hands of Gassy. It was Nadine who had tackled Heather down. The valiant sophomore had seen her roommate’s impending doom and charged in from left field. It was like something out of a movie, the action hero shoving the damsel out of harm’s way. Unfortunately, said hero had just put herself right in Gassy’s path, and he was bloodthirsty.

Nadine let out a terrified gasp as ten gloved fingers wrapped themselves around her neck. Her eyes widened with horror, as though she knew that that gasp was the last breath she would ever take. Gassy tightened his grip, and Nadine produced a disgusting wheeze. For all Miranda knew, that very well could have been the only sound Nadine was capable of making as the life was squeezed out of her.

Miranda froze up. She had always compared the time loop to a nightmare, but this was a whole new level of terror. She sat on the floor, hyperventilating and telling herself over and over again that this was the end. Heather had said that Valdis’ worked by sending their memories back through time, but how could that work with three lifeless bodies? On the floor beside Gassy, Miranda saw her cousin panting and staring up at Nadine. By the horrified look on her face, that girl was probably even more petrified than Miranda. They were in trouble, and it was trouble that not even a time loop could save them from.

A solemn voice startled Miranda and dispelled her panicked state. It was Valdis, the architect of this nightmare, and not even he seemed to be enjoying the moment. Instead, he wore a look of sorrow as he spoke down to Miranda. “You made this necessary, but It will be undone. I will undo all evil.”

‘Undo all evil?! He’s responsible for this evil,’ Miranda thought! ‘Does that dirtbag not care at all about the blood on his hands?!’

The raw, emotional hatred boiled up inside Miranda until it was all she felt. She didn’t even feel the pain in her shin as she swept her freed leg into Valdis. She just heard his startled cry and watched him trip down to her level. He managed to catch himself and land on all fours, but he still winced as though the fall had been excruciating. That was a sight for sore eyes, and Miranda was eager for more. The dirty-blonde damsel spun onto her belly and scrambled to get her feet under her. Getting up was pretty difficult with her hands tied, but Miranda was itching for--

“Gah!”

Valdis pressed a hand against Miranda’s chest and an agonizing shock jolted through her core. She felt as though she’d been punched in the heart, and it floored her. She had intended to get on top of Valdis, but by the time she’d gotten her breath back, the opposite had happened. Valdis knelt over her and held his hands up for her to see. Arcs of electricity crackled between his decrepit fingers, generating a blue light that illuminated his maniacal glare.

“You thought you were dealing with a weak old man, did you?!” Valdis’ voice boomed through the room as though he were some sort of furious titan. “I’m the most powerful mage in the universe!”

He lowered his hands towards Miranda and lowered his voice to a sinister growl. “Hold still, girl, I’ll make sure the next shock will be quick and painless…”

“NOO!”

A red blur crashed into Valdis’ flank with enough force to knock him right off of Miranda. She turned her head and saw Valdis rolling across the floor in a tumbling mass of black cashmere and wavy red hair.

‘Heather!’

The two of them rolled at such a speed that Miranda couldn’t quite follow what was happening. She didn’t know who was winning and who was losing, but by the sounds of it, they were both battling with the ferousity of cornered badgers.

And that’s when she heard the zap.

Bright arcs of electricity enveloped Heather, and she shot away from her opponent. She didn’t make a sound as she rolled away from everyone, finally coming to a stop with her back to Valdis and Miranda.

“No,” Miranda shrieked! “Heather!”

She wasn’t moving. A lump formed in Miranda’s throat, and she called out again to her little cousin. No answer. Miranda listened intently for signs of life, but she couldn’t hear any noises from Heather. All she heard was Valdis and… Nadine?

There was a distant thud behind Miranda, followed closely by an outburst of ragged coughs and heaves. Miranda turned and found that her ears were not deceiving her. Gassy had let go of Nadine, who was still very much alive. She sucked at the air and refilled her lungs as Gassy stood over her like a lifeless statue.

Miranda shook her head, trying and failing to make sense of what was going on. After a couple of seconds, she heard Valdis’ frustrated snarling. “No! Where is it?!”

The old man was clutching at his black suit as though he’d lost his wallet at a five-star restaurant. The first thing Miranda noticed was how afraid he looked, and the second thing that she noticed was that there was no green in his attire. The medallion was gone!

“Lost something?”

Both Valdis and Miranda shot their gaze over to where Heather laid. She’d moved. To Miranda’s overwhelming relief, Heather was still breathing! The battered redhead winced with every movement as she rose to her knees and lifted a fist for all to see. Clutched tightly in that fist was a glassy green medallion, hung by a broken chain.

“DROP THAT AT ONCE, YOU FOOL,” Valdis shouted at an ear-splitting volume!

Heather sneered. “Sure. I’ll drop it as fast as I can, mother f**ker!”

Her hand moved like a blur towards the floor. Valdis reached out, and for a split second, Miranda was worried that he would use some trick to try and stop Heather. It turned out that he was just doing what everyone does when they see their dreams shatter to pieces.

The medallion hit the floor and exploded like a porcelain dish. Sharp fragments spread out from Heather, and some even reached as far as the old man. Valdis clutched at whatever shards came within reach, whimpering and stammering to himself. It was a pitiful sight, and Miranda didn’t watch for long. Instead, she turned to Gassy.

For a moment, the monster that had tormented them for so long just stood there. Miranda wondered if he’d been switched off somehow. Perhaps that medallion was just the thing that kept him alive.

Boy, was she ever wrong...

The black-clad juggernaut spun on Valdis and locked eyes with his master. Even with the mask on, it was crystal clear that he was seriously pissed off. He charged, creating loud thuds each time his heavy boots hit the floor. In spite of that apparent weight, he moved like a cat, or maybe more like a cheetah dashing towards its prey.

And this time, none of the girls were his prey.

“No,” Valdis cried. “No, wai--"

No time. Gassy covered the entire floor in a matter of seconds, and Miranda knew then just how much he’d been holding back this whole time. She just had no idea if he would hold back for Valdis. He shot a hand at the old man’s throat and clutched it so tight that it cut off all sound. The old man seized up and clawed frantically at the arm of his former minion, but Miranda had been on the receiving end of Gassy’s strength enough times to know that there was no hope of escaping. Gassy could toss the old man around like a rag doll if he wanted to.

“Miranda?”

The call of her own name nearly made Miranda scream in surprise. It was Nadine. She was back on her feet and had even gotten her voice back. “Give me your hands.”

Moments later, Miranda was free. She rushed over to Heather and helped her exhausted cousin up. The poor girl was even worse for wear than Nadine and needed a helping hand just to stay on her feet. They made their way back to Nadine, who looked somewhat astonished. Miranda followed her eyes and realized that she was looking at Gassy.

The freshly freed automaton was looking back at them. The light glared off of his mask’s reflective lenses, and he threw up a hand so quickly that it made Miranda flinch. He was pointing to something. The girls followed his finger and realized that he was pointing to the door that led downstairs.

“I…” Nadine coughed twice before finishing her sentence. “I think he wants us to leave.”

“Hey, no need to tell me twice,” Miranda said. “Let’s go.”

Heather looked back at Gassy with concerned eyes. “But--”

“We’ve done what we came for,” Miranda interjected. “I’m getting you out of here while you can still stand. Now come on!”

Truth be told, not even Miranda was certain that they should leave. It wasn’t like the end of a test or a work shift where someone would tell them that the job was over; but Miranda was in the best shape out of everyone after that fight, and she needed to make sure that the others got out okay. Gassy could do whatever he wanted with Valdis Ozola for all Miranda cared. She just didn’t want to stick around to see it, and she definitely didn’t want to get in his way.

Still, as she stepped out the door, she glanced back to Gassy one last time. She wasn’t sure why she did that. Perhaps it was just for closure. Regardless, she saw that Gassy still had the old man, and he was still looking at them on their way out the door. He dropped his head and gave Miranda a little nod. The two of them may not have had a good history of communication, but Miranda knew in that moment that there was still a part of Gavin McGuiness behind that mask, and that boy’s nod was the best remaining way that he was able to say, ‘Thank you.’

The grassy dirt outside the shack offered a soft, satisfying welcome to Miranda’s feet. She wanted to roll around in the grass and celebrate the fact that she was standing in a natural, ordinary world.

She hadn’t bothered to close the door behind them, and when she looked back, she only saw the empty interior of a tiny wooden hunting cabin behind that door. She couldn’t explain why, but the mansion just wasn’t there anymore. It was as though the last hour had never happened. Miranda kind of liked the idea of that. Quite frankly, she’d be glad to live out the rest of her life as though the whole loop had never happened.

“Look at the stars,” Heather said with a weak voice. “They’re so pretty. You don’t see skies like that in the city.”

Miranda looked upwards. Heather was right. The sky was full of beautiful twinkling stars in numbers that Miranda hadn’t seen in her entire post-secondary education.

Nadine seemed just as dazzled. “No kidding. I can’t remember the last time it saw the Big Dipper so clearly! But where’s Orion?”

“Orion the Hunter’s only visible to us in the wintry seasons,” Miranda said. “Maybe we can all go see him sometime this winter.”

For a moment, no one spoke. They stood still, soaking in Miranda's words, and what they meant. They could indeed go stargazing together now. They could wait for changes in the night sky, and they could plan for their futures!

Some quiet sniffling from Heather broke the silence. The arm that she had draped over Miranda tightened its grip, and she extended her other arm to Nadine. Miranda couldn’t see all that well, but she could hear the sounds of impending waterworks from Nadine as well. She threw herself into the others and embraced both Heather and Miranda in a wide, tight hug. Miranda returned the hug, and then she felt tears of her own welling up.

She recalled her earlier sentiment, that she would be happy to live out her life without ever thinking of the loop again, but as she stood there in the loving embrace of the two best friends she had ever had under a beautiful night sky, Miranda realized that there was indeed some things about the loop that she would like to hold on to.

Beautifully worked out ending. Well told. And especially, I like a happy ending. Wonderful characters throughout the story. I hope it is not wrong of me but I would really like to see these characters again. What about putting them in Fictional Stories For Adults? Okay, I am dreaming. I'll end with kudos to @TomYi.

I think the best compliment that I can give this story is something that I've been thinking for a while now: if you replaced the bondage with Gassy simply killing them every day, this could be a Hollywood movie. What I wouldn't give to see a Hollywood movie lie this that includes the bondage, but we all know that's not a very realistic expectation. Regardless, there's not too many stories on here where the plot is genuinely great even outside of our major subject matter. Excellent work.

Oh, that's so very well done indeed!
What a journey! And an end worthy of it!

I really enjoyed the bondage as the non-bondage parts, but you know what? As carefully and detailed and ingenious the bindings had been, the vivid characters, being almost within the minds of the threesome and the upbuilding tension beat it!
Extraordinary! So many thanks for providing!

I can't say there was anything I didn't like about this story. Perfect blend of bondage/non bondage, great characters and plenty of mystery throughout the story.

And I for one am glad the following was here for you to continue and see this through to the end and provide us with this wonderful story.

Great work Tom, looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!!

Now THAT is an ending worth waiting for. This is a story I think I'll revisit from time to time. Don't ever let anyone say @TomYi
Isn't an excellent storyteller. I say that because I mean it. It took a story like this to get me to break my inadvertent silence after I created my account. :D
You have my respect @TomYi . 8-)
