College Night (CYOA - Twine) - M*/M*

Post by FelixSH »

I've written a new CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) story in Twine. You probably know how they work, but just in case: You get a paragraph or two, and then get to choose how to proceed with the story.

In this case, it's about a male college student, who is out during the night, on a walk. When he moves past some garbage bins, he hears a noise. You can either decide to look where it is coming from, or to ignore it, and to continue with your walk (and meet some friendly frat boys on the way).

It being a Twine program makes it, unfortunately, necessary to link it, instead of just posting here. It's hosted on the gaming website itch.io, and you don't need to download it, you just play it in your browser.

If you enjoy it, tell me. This was a lot of work, and while fun, it still simply took pretty long. Without people who are into this, there is no point in making more games. It doesn't have to be much, justa simple "Nice game" is enough. But nearly no comments tells me, that people don't like it, and don't want anything more of it. So please, if you enjoy the game, take a few seconds to tell me. It's super valuable for me, and you might get more games out of it, in the future, for nearly no work on your end.

Link to the game

There are 27 endings, because it was planned as a short prologue, that just got out of hands. That happens, when you try to write for every somewhat possible scenario. Due to the many routes, most endings have more than one way of reaching them. For that reason, I included a walkthrough feature. When you turn it on, the links that will lead to a new ending will be red. It might not work, if you turn it on in the middle, but it should when turned on at the start of a new try.

I'd appreciate comments, feedback (negative or positive, as long as it's constructive), and so on.

Thank you so much for making this! I've used Twine too and, while I love it as a writing tool, I know how easily even a brief scenario can get out of hand: putting a CYOU story together takes a lot more time and effort than a standard narrative.

Am I right in thinking you were perhaps influenced by @Charmides' Cresswell Mall? I'm enjoying imagining the young protagonist of this story graduating college, getting a job as a night watchman and finding bondage adventures had followed him. :D

If M/M overkill bondage in stupidly excessive amounts of gear is your thing as well as mine, here's a list of my TUG stories.

Thanks! Yeah, it was a lot of work. Can't say how much, because I took a month-long break, due to other stress, but I worked on it for multiple days (or rather nights). Plus debugging, and adding of feature (like the walkthrough), I wouldn't be surprised if I came to 14 days in total.

I know of Cresswell Mall, but I've known of CYOA stories since I was a kid. I'd probably have written something either way. But it's hard to say, it might have been the thing that put this back into my mind. I'll never know.

It is a true work of art. I got hung up on the few CYOAs on this site and I gotta say yours is probably the most refined. I fight the urge to do more than one or two endings since it would feel like a waste to get everything spoiled right away!

Thank you! I'm happy, knowing you enjoy it so much.

Which other CYOA stories are here? I only know about Cresswell Mall. Or are the others not m/m?

EDIT: Apparently, I missed a few, because they are in the "For Adults" section. Oh, well. I wished I had given zerg rush feedback, seems like they are gone now.

Oh yes, exactly. There’s more treasures that get lost over time and the authors stop being active or even get deleted completely…

Zergrush makes it such a pity since some are obviously incomplete and leave the fantasy wanting as to what could they have become.

That’s why I really appreciate you taking the time to pull through with yours!

Really fun story. I went for round ten endings myself before using the walkthrough option to help me after that. CYOA stories are always harder to make than they seem so hats off for giving us so many options. Bondage was nice too, I loved the idea of taping the prisoners inside trash cans.

I think some of the descriptions could be added earlier (IIRC, you only get to see some of them if you pick certain routes) but I really don't have much to nitpick. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!

If you're okay with For Adults stories, I can't recommend @Varlance's stories enough. They're worth looking just to see how one can handle these type of stories.

Now that's a blast from the past. I wonder what happened to Charmides, he just suddenly disappeared one day.
Bondage enthusiast in his 20s, a fan of cute guys, underwear, and bondage, preferably together.

Really fantastic and so many interesting avenues to go down trying to get all the endings.

Thank you, Volobond!

Writing the endings was a lot of fun. But I had put one or two routes to the same ending, because I ran out of ideas, at some point. There was only so much variety I could think of, with the protagonist getting tied up.

Still, very fun, just describing situations were the protagonist is helplessly bound and gagged, unsure when to get out.
